Dear Divers just a short note to let you know of upcoming events in

The annual Middle East Diving Conference will be held, on the 30th &
31st of October. As always we have a wide and interesting array of
speakers including GUE Training Director Andrew Georgitsis.

In support of the conference an environmental clean up day will be
organised. The site will be one of Oman's marvellous marine reserves.
This will be an excellent opportunity to visit a normally restricted
area where the attractions include nesting turtles, rare birds, whale
sharks, dolphins and leopard sharks. If scheduling allows an overnight
camp will be incorporated. Despite being a work orientated event, the
clean up will allow time to enjoy some spectacular underwater site
seeing in a pristine environment. All divers, visiting or resident, are

In addition to this there will be a suite of GUE courses available. The
proposed GUE schedule is as follows

DIRF takes 2.5 to 3 days 1/11-3/11
Tech 1 takes 6 days 4/11-9/11
Tech 2 takes 5 days 1/11-5/11
RB80 pt 1 takes 5 days TBA
RB80 pt 2 takes 5 days TBA

There'll be multiple instructors so courses will run simultaneously.

RB80 amnesty
It's recognised that there are a number of rebreather qualified divers
who, having made substantial financial and time investments in education
and qualification with other agencies and units, would like to move over
to the RB80. In recognition of their previous investment, for this event
only, an RB80 pt1 training amnesty is being offered. In other words if
you are already a qualified re-breather diver who wishes to cross over
you may be entitled to a discounted training fee.

The financial aim of the GUE event is to merely cover costs. It's
envisaged that there will be a substantial amount of free accommodation
available for the event so the other costs should be limited to food,
gas, incidentals and instructor flights.

Other points of interest,
* The full array of Halcyon products are available locally,
including pre-ordered RB80s :-)
* Help is available with import charges and supporting paperwork
* Oman isn't dry :-) :-)

This is an ideal opportunity to combine some quality training with a
break in the sun, fill your boots.
